14 tips that I would give myself a 25-year
Kasım 6, 2023All comes with experience. In our youth, we often spend time and energy on those things that do not deserve it. You know what you would advise yourself if they could return to the past? Journalist Julia Delitt compiled a list of truths and life conclusions that she would share with a younger version of herself. Her conclusions will come in handy not only 25 years old, but also to everyone who wants to live happily.
At 25, I lived in a tiny apartment, almost without money, with a broken heart and a complete misunderstanding where to move on. Every evening I walked along the lake and asked myself: when there will be meaning in my life? If I could return to the past and whisper a few wise thoughts to myself twenty -five years, that’s what I would say.
1. Don’t get hung up on food
I love hot salty potatoes of free, but for a very long time I did not allow myself to eat it. At the age of 25, she made herself only healthy food to maintain “correct” weight. Now I understand how stupid it was. A lot of time and energy was wasted. Of course, there are free potatoes every day – not the best choice. But why not rejoice yourself from time to time? I get real pleasure when I eat it. So now I order a freet potato without oppressing guilt. Life is too short to worry about such nonsense.
2. Protect your time
Others will constantly ask you for help or favor. If you agree, do not complain later on enormous employment, fatigue and overload. This is only your fault. Time is the most valuable resource. Learn to say no to others to win the time for what is important to you. Provinging time from invasions, you support the development of priority areas of life.
3. Travel as much as possible
Traveling to other cities and countries, you are aware of the insignificance and far -fetchedness of many problems. If you have food, drinking water, a roof over your head and beloved people, then everything is fine.
4. Happiness is not related to the “perfect” body
Previously, I wanted to achieve the desired weight, to have a lumen between the hips, to be considered “thin”. But over time, I realized that this brings joy only in the short term. The perfect body does not guarantee happiness for life. Reconcile with the forms that nature has given. Admire how the body allows you to move, breathe, think and exist in general.
5. Do not try to earn love
It took me 10 years to learn this lesson. Do not compromise with yourself and depict another person from yourself so that someone likes. This is a meaningless struggle. The relationship that begins so, does not end in anything good. Leave a place in life for people who will want to be with you without any conditions.
6. Do not forget about live communication
Stop hiding behind text messages. It is much better to call or meet personally: you will hear the voice of another person, learn to catch pauses and maintain contact while he speaks. In a personal meeting, you will also be able to observe the expression on the face of the interlocutor and the language of the body. Text messages will
never replace live communication.
7. Learn to forgive yourself
Sometimes you look back at the mistakes of the past, and you are covered by despair, anger or shame. Try not to get stuck in the past. What is done is done. We make decisions based on the available information. Usually we act in conditions of limited data and sometimes make errors. Now you know more and therefore blame yourself, but you should not do it. Learn to forgive yourself and treat yourself with sympathy in the face of errors. This skill is useful in life.
